Update XVI
X (51.362820, 0.213735). I admit defeat. It's superb, and I just can't make anything different out of it. If I double time up to 180BPM, we're up in DnB/hardcore territory, and we already have those kind of tunes. If I go down to 90 BPM, then we're in chillout territory, and we already have three downtempo/chillout tunes, so if I clump 4 together in the album, it's gonna get pretty low and depressing.
So it's gonna stay as an intro, nothing too different from the original. Bigger synths and pads, a slightly different arrangement, and a few surprises in there too. My plan to have an Overture is still on the cards, I reckon it'll be the tune after the intro - a full on hard trancer mish-mash of bits I haven't used in other tunes, and a great way to start the album. Full of energy, vocal hooks, big synths, that kind of thing.

In a good news story, I've managed to find my old dongle, which has a license for the VPS Multiband Sidechainer on it. So I'll be using that instead of LFO Tool for when it comes to mixing tunes where the LFO Tool doesn't behave itself. I had a little play with it a couple of nights ago and have forgotten how good it is.
I'm hoping to get the Overture done before I go on holiday in a couple of weeks. Then I'll be back bright and ready to start the mixing and mastering process. Which is probably my favourite bit of producing music. Exciting times ahead.
Here's a picture of what has been my second studio for the past few months :)
